Rock Garden - Chandigarh

The emerald green of Punjab covers your eyesight, much, much before you have arrived at the state. And you feel peaceful...that is exactly how I felt this weekend.....peace. My first visit to Chandigarh, a welcome change from Delhi - planned city, good roads, lots of green and foilage around. But what took my breath away was the famous Rock Garden created by Nek Chand. It is during the urbanization of Punjab that Nek Chand collected the old artifacts and daily use items in households, which were becoming redundant, in the face of new products. It is with these items collected over time that he, devoting a few hours daily over many years created a treasure we can all learn from. (see http://www.nekchand.com/)

Thanks Nans,
I did not put all the pictures but it is really fascinating. Thanks for visiting. Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab and was designed by French architect Le Cobusier during the British Raj in India.

Hi Amrita,
Yes, I have been reading up. Admitted! It always interests me to know a person, especially someone like you, just a wee better, because after all, we can only know the other through their writings on a blog :)))

Hey Julia,
Quite perplexed by your last email...have no idea what the 'misleading book thingy' is??? I'm way too 'old' and thankful for God's grace in my own life to be 'petty' about anythihng, I'm afraid...don't have the energy!

Anyway, I haven't visited because I am simply busy and only visit usually the primary sites on my sidebars...here in the summer, I have the boys with me and we love to enjoy the sun and warmth while we have it...winter will soon be here!
Love the pics here! Perhaps I'll get to visit the land of my forbears someday! Blessings..

Dear Sita,
Lovely to see you here. I am glad you are having a great time with your boys. Winter? So soon coming along? I had read and seen some wonderful pictures of winter in Canada. Do drop by to our country. You will love the sun although it is monsoons here now.
Bless you, dear Sita,
Julia
